Summer is in full swing and the lambs are all thriving and growing well on pasture with their mothers. Fall will be here before we know it and from August until October, we will have lamb ready for market.
The typical carcass weight for our lambs is between 50-55 pounds. We charge $5.00 per pound and the buyer is responsible for also paying the $75.00 fee to have the lamb harvested, cut and vacuum-sealed. A realistic estimation for a whole lamb from Tis Well would be $350.
Typical cuts of lamb from Tis Well includes:
- Leg of lamb (whole or split)
- Loin chops (packed in sets of 2 or 4)
- Ground lamb (1 pound packs)
- Lamb stew meat (1 pound packs)
- Shoulder chops
- Organ/variety meat (kidney, liver, heart)
Each Tis Well lamb buyer will receive complementary lamb recipes and spice seasoning from the American Lamb Board, courtesy of Tis Well.
The buyer has first choice on the hide from their lamb. Hides are salted and dried at Tis Well and are processed at Bucks County Fur Products. Estimate 6-7 months after you receive your lamb to also receive the lamb hide.
